It is worth posting for the first time in eight months for this: high-fructose corn syrup is now being called “corn sugar” on food ingredient labels. I ran across this article last fall and wondered if this was actually going to happen. Yesterday the label on the chocolate cakes at Costco proved that the time has arrived.

Hi Jodi. I didn’t know you have time to write this much about what’s going on in your life. It is quite delightful to read. I also want to know which hospital you are at and your email. Just want to see what’s going on over there on the east coast. Thanks and have a good day.
interesting….I wonder if it says that on our ketchup that says “no high fructose corn syrup????
I did some follow-up digging on this (which took ages) and I have some details to update with here. Costco says:
So, a couple of things to emphasize:
1) Corn Sugar TODAY still just means Dextrose (which is just a type of Glucose, which in this case comes naturally from corn)
2) Corn Sugar IN THE FUTURE may well mean “secret HFCS” if the corn lobby gets their nefarious way (see http://www.cornsugar.com/)
3) And perhaps most important… the very tasty All-American Chocolate cake does NOT have HFCS in it. Whew!
