Either the founding fathers dealt with similar issues or they had amazing foresight, but either way just be glad that these people aren't having to exercise their "judgment" every day in referendums. As much as I wish there were more, better candidates in these races, I'm pretty sure even the worst of them could not do as much damage as a direct democracy would. Wow - look at me, looking on the bright side. And so what if he were a muslim. At least he's not......mormon! Plus, I think it would be poetic to see the 5 pillars posted right next to the 10 commandments on the wall in my courtroom. :o) But rest assured, these people are precisely the reason we have an INdirect democracy in this country.
