Pregnancy Update – 37 weeks, full term!  2

Posted on June 26th, 2007. About Baby Dodds.

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted a pregnancy update, and I’ve been delinquent for various reasons. First, because the last month at work has been incredibly busy and exhausting, and my free time has been consumed with sleep, taking baths (my favorite way to relieve pain in the feet), watching tv mindlessly, or running errands with Evan in eager preparation for the big arrival.

Another reason I have not been posting is that I have discovered that pregnancy-related matters are more intensely private than I would have expected. It’s all medical, right? Still, discussing cervical effacement, fetal station, and what is learned at each OB/Gyn visit just did not seem appropriate for public blog posting. I will say this, though – Evan and I named our son Gabriel Evan and have been referring to him by his name for many weeks now. We actually chose his name while we were still in college and dating, so it’s only suitable that he will carry a name that we’ve had eight years to mull over, and we still like it! Several of my wonderful friends threw a baby shower two weekends ago, which was spectacular – not only was it amazing to relax for a few hours with friends, but my mother surprised me by flying in from South Carolina, and then my aunt arrived from Texas – another surprise! Gabriel received quite a few useful and cute gifts – I do think we’re ready now. We have also now attended our Labor and Delivery class as well as a Carseat Safety class, and since then have purchased a carseat (the Graco SafeSeat).

The nursery is now awaiting Gabriel’s arrival too – after much labor by Evan, our crib, changing table, and rocking chair are set up. My mother painted the room during one of her trips to Seattle. The large duck is courtesy of my brother, Uncle Timmy. 😉

I was happy to find exactly the rocking chair I wanted – from an online company called Every Rocking Chair – and did not owe sales tax or shipping on the chair. The gingham cushions are on the way!

So our baby is at full-term now, and we’re just waiting for him to make his way into our world.
